From the East:
Brethren,
On 16 August, Free and Accepted masons of Virginia, initiated, passed and raised approximately 655 good men during the One-Day Conferral. 155 of these good men’s degrees were conferred at Alexandria at the Scottish Rite Temple. Nine of these brethren are from Andrew Jackson Lodge. I am pleased to introduce Brother Donald Alway, Brother Paul Wickberg, Brother Scott Croner, Brother Michael Costello, Brother Matthew Edwards, Brother Hassan Abbassy, Brother Barton James, Brother Johnnie Edmonds, and Brother Daniel Tippett, Please congratulate these brethren on becoming members of the greatest fraternity in the world. Bringing these men into Freemasonry is the greatest thing we could do for them.
As I travel around this great country of our, it is my great pleasure to meet new brethren. Every trip that I have been on this year, I have met a new brother. It always amazes me the special bond that we have from the moment that we meet a brother in Freemasonry. I have met brethren from Texas, New Jersey, Washington, and North Carolina. It is great to know brethren of across this great country.
Most Worshipful Donald M. Robey, PGM, spoke on the history of Andrew Jackson Lodge during the August Stated Communications. It was very interesting to hear about the connection between Andrew Jackson Lodge and Alexandria–Washington Lodge No.22, dating back to 1854. The two lodges have a continuing history together and it seemed fitting that we held this joint communication. It was nice to see Alexandria-Washington Lodge full of brethren to hear M \ W \ Donald Robey.
During the September stated communication, we will be hearing from Worshipful Master Donald L. McAndrews, A. Douglas Smith, Jr., Lodge of Research No.1949. W \ Donald will brief us the mission and happenings of A. Douglas Smith, Jr., Lodge of Research No.1949.
The September stated communication will be Warden’s Night. Come and see our Senior Warden sit in the East.
Come join the officers of Andrew Jackson Lodge and our families as we host the District 1A Picnic at Fort Ward Park in Alexandria on Saturday, September 20 beginning at 12:00 Noon. There will be plenty of fun, fellowship, and food for your enjoyment.
Fraternally,
Grant
